Star had a wonderful evening celebrating success at this year’s gala dinner for the PharmaTimes Marketer of the Year and Sales Awards, topped off by one of their own taking home one of the most coveted awards of the evening.
Held at the Tower Hotel in London, the event showcased the very best of the industry, with finalists of the Marketer of the Year, Sales Awards and Communications Team of the Year being recognised.
Star sponsored the prestigious ‘Company of the Year’ and ‘Primary Care Sales Professional of the Year’ awards for Marketer of the Year and the Sales Awards respectively, and were delighted to be among fellow industry-leaders for the 25th anniversary event.
Marketer of the Year identifies and benchmarks marketing talent within pharma organisations, while the Sales Awards is the only pharma sales awards where representatives are evaluated by their healthcare professional clients.
The final award of the evening - Primary Care Sales Professional of the Year - was won by Star’s very own Gurpal Marway, Primary Care Representative at Daiichi-Sankyo.
He said: “The last year has been a journey that has completely changed the way I work. Working with Daiichi-Sankyo/Star has allowed me to utilise deeper key account management and prioritisation skills to drive sales, and more importantly, develop customer centricity.
“This in turn has enabled me to ensure that I gain a large amount of success in a short amount of time. With this in mind, I am delighted to have received the award.”
Ketan Acharya, Gurpal’s Key Account Manager, said: “Gurpal has been an integral part of the team over the last 13 months and his work ethic combined with strategic outlook has not only delivered sales, but outstanding customer interactions.
“Daiichi-Sankyo has provided a platform alongside Star, but Gurpal has seized a fantastic opportunity and the PharmaTimes award is richly deserved based on his efforts in 2018. Thank you and well done, Gurpal!”
Also recognised for Daiichi-Sankyo was Star, Nilantha Senadhira - Primary Care Specialist - who received a special commendation for coming a close second.
“I was really honoured to be nominated by my project manager and client manager for the PharmaTimes assessment day”, he said. “I was really happy to make it to the finals, and even more happy to receive a special commendation.
“It’s fantastic for both Star and Daiichi-Sankyo to be spotlighted in these industry awards since we had four of our team in the UK finals and for the eventual winner, and me being highly commended representing both companies. I would really like to thank Star and Daiichi-Sankyo for recognising my efforts in the day job, and for the support they have shown me.”
Star saw more recognition in Jonathan Bawden, Key Account Manager at Flynn Pharma and Star employee, who was also awarded a special commendation.
He said: "I really appreciate the support that Star Medical and Flynn Pharma have given me in putting me forward for the PharmaTimes award. It was a great development opportunity, and to receive a special commendation validates all of the hard work that we put in."
Commenting on Star’s recognition at the event, Managing Director of Star, Dave Faulkner, said: “Many congratulations to Gurpal on his fantastic success, to Nilantha and Jonathan for their commendations, and the finalists Star had across a number of categories.
“We are really proud of them all, and how they represent Star and our clients.”
