In 2015 Star was acquired by Uniphar PLC, a €1 billion company offering end-to-end product support through three divisions – Supply Chain, Life Cycle Management, and Clinical Commercial. So while we’re not quite the corporate behemoth, we do benefit from significant infrastructure, investment and access to group services that help us make a genuine impact for our clients.
Dave is a real advocate for what we stand for at Star. He believes that if you can get the best people, give them great support and make them accountable, then you’ll deliver better sales.
After gaining a degree in Law while enjoying life to the max, Dave has now spent over 25 years in the industry developing people to be the best they can be and achieving results for clients.
For Dave, a great day is when a Star team makes a sales impact for a client, when a Star recruiter places the perfect candidate in a fantastic position, and when a horse tip he has been given wins!
As Operations Director, Mark is driven to deliver excellence, and puts positive and rewarding client relationships at the forefront of everything he does. He recognises that Star's people and their development is at the core of what makes us unique and works to harness this talent every day, whilst maintaining process and building frameworks that allow the business to go from strength to strength.
Mark built his commercial expertise within the telecommunications industry and brings his organisational flair and attention to detail to help Star's teams achieve their goals. Outside of the office, he has a new-found love of running and the perspective it gives to everyday life.
Rachel has over 18 years’ experience working in pharma and healthcare recruitment, with a history of setting up and managing entire recruitment functions as well as working as a First Line Manager for contract teams.
She has successfully project-managed some of the largest recruitment team builds in the industry and is proud of how these teams have performed and developed to ensure patients receive the best treatment and care.
In her spare time, Rachel is a member of Rock Choir and has performed in some of the UK’s most famous venues, including the O2 Arena and the Globe Theatre, to raise money for charity. Rachel also volunteers as a Business Mentor at Dove House Post 16, working with autistic teenagers to help them transition into paid employment.
Having joined Star in 2005, Kate has seen the business grow from eight to over 300 employees. She works with her team to support Head Office and all of our teams out on the road, and is one the key reasons behind why Star is such a fantastic place to work.
Kate has not only introduced a number of work-life balance initiatives, but she also helped Star achieve Gold standard in 'Investors In People', and is currently working hard towards the company achieving the Platinum standard.
A graduate in Law, she is a lover of lists and making plans, and since joining Star has completed her CIM, CIPID Level 5, and MCIPD qualifications. When she isn’t working, Kate can usually be found planning her next adventures with her family in their 1970s campervan.
Lucy is one of Star's co-founders and specialises in strategic direction, new business development, and customer focus. She works closely with clients to understand their challenges, and then energises the management team to create bespoke solutions that make an impact.
A Business graduate of Sheffield University, Lucy worked her way up at Procter & Gamble before winning the National Sales Manager role in Ireland. She met Tim Webster in the early noughties and returned to the UK to found Star with him, never looking back.
Lucy is fascinated by personal development and is qualified in various personal insight techniques, using her knowledge to optimise Star and client performance.
Business Unit Director for the Pharma recruitment team, Marie has worked in the industry for over 18 years in a variety of roles including recruitment and sales management. After completing her Masters in HR Management, she moved into Operations and joined Star in 2014, helping set up the Northern office.
Marie manages the UK Pharma recruitment team across both permanent and outsourced vacancies. She loves to see her team succeed and receive feedback from candidates on their positive experience working with Star.
When she isn’t looking after her two small children, Marie tries to develop her new-found favourite skiing hobby.
Dan has worked in recruitment for over 18 years and his background includes account management - leading the recruitment for some of Star’s largest field-based teams.
As Recruitment Partner, Dan manages all the recruitment activities for Star’s prestigious RPO, managing a wide variety of roles and positions for a large client. He loves building relationships and strives to offer the best service, adapting to the diverse needs this involves.
Outside of work Dan’s main passions are cooking, music and spending time with his family. His two boys keep him on his toes, as does his 10-year-old’s football team that he helps coach at the weekend!
Kelly covers Star’s Scotland, Northern Ireland, Yorkshire and North East territories within Pharma and works on roles including Regional Business Management, Market Access, Key Account Management, Primary and Secondary Care sales, and Graduate positions.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, socialising with friends, travelling, going to the theatre, and has been known to dabble in interior design.
For Kelly, the best parts of her role at Star are assisting people in finding their dream roles through really getting to understand their drive and experience, building those relationships and working with her colleagues to share best practice to develop her own career.
Ben has over 12 years’ experience recruiting within the Pharma and Healthcare industries and has returned to the UK after spending time in Switzerland, leading a team recruiting Global Health Office positions focusing on clinical vacancies.
At Star Ben’s role involves identifying business opportunities with new clients, working with existing clients to ensure true partnership, and building new relationships to add value to our clients’ recruitment processes.
Outside of work, Ben can be found performing as a taxi for his two active children, training and competing in triathlons, and cycling in sportives.
Leigh has worked in recruitment for over 13 years in a variety of industries and covers Star’s South London, Sussex, Surrey and Kent territories as Regional Pharmaceutical Recruitment Consultant.
Recruitment has taught Leigh to expect the unexpected! She is a real people person and enjoys getting to know her candidates and clients, and their motivations around wanting to find their perfect role or employee.
In her spare time, nothing makes Leigh happier than travelling and exploring new places, as well as going to festivals and treating herself to a glass of her favourite wine.
Rowena joined Star in 2015 through the graduate programme, having graduated with a BSc in Human Nutrition. She began working on the outsourcing team and now works across clinical positions with a strong focus on Star’s RPO client.
Rowena’s role is extremely diverse, and she feels lucky to be able to recruit across numerous divisions and departments - spending her time talking to candidates with varying skills and experience and learning something new every day.
A keen surfer, Rowena gets to the beach whenever she can and loves to attend music festivals and practice yoga.
Asha has over eight years’ experience in Pharma recruitment within a CSO environment. Her day-to-day role involves building new sales teams for Star’s Pharma and Medical Devices clients - searching for candidates, interviewing them for potential roles, preparing them for interviews and attending assessment centres.
As well as working with candidates, Asha actively manages client accounts, helping them meet their specific recruitment needs. For Asha, being able to find candidates their dream roles and also help return people to employment are the most enjoyable aspects of her work.
When she’s not working Asha enjoys travelling and reading, and loves spending time with her young daughter, which keeps her very busy!
Emily has worked in Healthcare recruitment for over four years and sources candidates for Pharma roles within the Hertfordshire, Berkshire, East Anglia and the North Thames territories.
For Emily, the most enjoyable part of her role is when candidates are offered their dream roles, and the feeling of knowing as a recruiter that she has helped people achieve their goals.
In her spare time, she can usually be found attending festivals, music gigs and camping – hopefully in a dry field!
Sadia supports Star’s national Pharma recruitment team with their resourcing, advertising and interviewing needs, and has a background in HR Administration. She also assists with projects to maintain Star’s compliance, including GDPR.
For Sadia, the flexibility and variety of her role with no two days ever being the same is what makes it exciting, as well as working with and getting to know a range of people.
In her spare time Sadia has a passion for the beauty industry and is currently expanding her knowledge of the UK by travelling around and visiting the major attractions.
Danny has over 11 years’ recruitment experience in the Medical Devices industry across the UK and Ireland, and his days revolve around leading the recruitment team of dedicated Medical Devices consultants nationally. As well as this, he is responsible for developing valued relationships with Star’s key clients in the sector.
For Danny, working in an industry that has a truly positive impact on people’s lives is what it’s all about; whether it’s a patient who receives treatment via a product promoted by one of our customers, or a candidate whose life we can help shape by working in partnership with them to find them their dream job.
When he’s not at the helm of the Medical Devices team, Danny can usually be found following Manchester City around Europe, watching live music, or spending quality time with his friends and family.
Before Sarah began her career in recruitment she worked as a primary school teacher, then moved into Education Recruitment Consultant and Supply Teacher Trainer roles.
Sarah has been with Star for over seven years and works within the Medical Devices recruitment team to both attract top talent and generate new business opportunities. When it comes to her role, she thinks there’s no better feeling than finding a candidate their dream job.
Sarah’s spare time is spent exploring the beautiful South West countryside with her two-year-old daughter.
Responsible for looking after Star’s Medical Devices clients across the South East of England and East Anglia, Jon has over seven years’ experience in recruitment within Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals.
With previous experience in a Business Development role, he is passionate about making a difference to people’s lives by matching the perfect position to the perfect candidate, which then allows patients to get access to products that will have a positive impact.
When he’s not working, Jon likes nothing more than a day at the races with a few cold ones, if his wife and young daughter allow it!
Lauren has experience in Medical Devices sales so knows what candidates go through when searching for that perfect role in the industry, as well as day-to-day challenges. In her role within Star’s Medical Devices recruitment team, her focus is on the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Lauren also has a background in marketing and specialises in working with medical marketeers and product specialists within Head Office roles. She loves matching exciting positions with the very best talent and helping to add a whole new chapter to a candidate’s career.
Away from work Lauren can be found by the beach, with her head in a book, twisting into the next yoga pose or crafting up a storm!
Estelle is Star’s Regional Recruitment Consultant for Medical Devices for the South West, South Wales, West and East Midlands.
Her past experience working within Medical sales allows her to understand what candidates really want from their next role within the industry. She relishes the thought of helping talented candidates find the perfect role.
In her spare time, Estelle likes to visit Cornwall where she grew up, go to the beach and consume a lot of delicious pasties. She loves to travel to new places around the world, and spend quality time with family and friends.
