Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited is India's largest pharmaceutical company, specialising in wide ranging number of generic medicines; it is ranked amongst the top ten global generic companies. Ranbaxy was incorporated in 1961 and went public in 1973.

Ranbaxy has entered in to new speciality therapeutic segments like biosimiliars, oncology, peptides and limuses. New drug research areas at Ranbaxy include anti-infectives, inflammatory, respiratory, metabolic diseases, oncology, urology and anti-malaria. Currently, the company has 8-10 programmes, one of which is an anti-malaria molecule currently in Phase II clinical stage. Cephalexin - an antibiotic used to treat numerous infections
Cefaclor - an antibiotic used to treat numerous infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia, ear, lung, skin, throat and urinary tract infections.
