Founded in 1995, ProStrakan is a pharmaceutical company with their headquarters in Scotland, but with commercial operations throughout the UK and Continental Europe. Hiring 260 people, in June 2005 ProStrakan completed its initial public offering of shares to be listed on the London Stock Exchange.

In 2004, ProStrakan revenues from product sales in Europe nearly trebled over figures for the previous year, making ProStrakan one of the fastest growing Pharma companies in the UK.

ProStrakan strategy is to build a significant international Pharmaceutical company based on a self sustaining business model. They describe this as bringing products onto the market, either from their research and development portfolio or by licensing, to be sold by their own sales forces.

Products

ProStrakan's main focus is on women's health, the aging male and bone disease.

Adcal - is a calcium supplement used as a therapy for osteoporosis it contains calcium carbonate, which is a salt used mainly to supplement calcium in the diet.

Isotard - Is a once daily ptophylactic treatment for angina pectoris. This medicine contains the active ingredient isosorbide mononitrate, which is a type of medicine used to enable the heart to work more easily.

Rectogesic - is for the relief of pain associated with chronic anal fissures, it contains the active ingredient glycerly trinitrate.
