Nihon Eisai was established in Japan in 1941 and their contraceptive vaginal tablet, Sampoon, was approved there in 1951. In 1955 Eisai Co Ltd was formed and in 1961 the company added animal drugs to their portfolio. In the early 1980s a division opened in California along with the Tsukubu Research Laboratories. The company established themselves in the UK in 1990 and in Korea in 1997. They are now a worldwide company and in the UK, Eisai is a top 20 pharmaceutical company. Products

Aricept for Alzheimer's. This product, uniquely, is approved for use at all stages of the disease from mild to moderate to severe. It has been shown to help cognition and function. It is the number 1 prescribed Alzheimer's drug worldwide and more than 3.8 million people have been treated with it.

Zonegran for epilepsy. This is an adjunctive medicine, used in combination with other treatments for epilepsy. It is used to treat partial seizures in adults. Zonegran has a well-established safety profile with no associated weight gain and only minimal cognitive impairment.

Pariet for gastro-intestinal disorders. This product is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers by reducing the production of stomach acid.
