SSL is a focused consumer products company, producing prominent brands such as Durex and Scholl, as well as a diverse selection of smaller, niche brands such as Meltus, Medised and Syndol in the UK and Sauber and Mister Baby in Southern Europe. In addition to the aforementioned European presence, SSL operates in 32 other countries across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas, which in turn sell in to over 100 countries globally.
SSL International was formed as a result of a merger between Seton Healthcare plc, specialising in over-the-counter remedies and Scholl plc, specialising in footwear, in 1998, forming Seton Scholl Healthcare plc, followed by another merger with the London International Group plc in May 1999, the latter being a provider of imported condoms and barber shop supplies. As a result, SSL became a mix of medical and consumer brands, followed by an adjusted focus on non-core products and brands, and the 'tail' of the UK OTC portfolio. SSL is now dedicated to the development and growth of its consumer brands.
