Schulke and Mayr was founded in 1889 by the Hamburg businessmen Rudolf Schulke and Julius Mayr for the sale of the first packaged branded preparation for disinfection, Lysol. The company's business activity has extended into the areas of hygiene, body care and special preservatives. Since 1996 the company has belonged to the French organisation Air Liquide, a concern that operates throughout the world, which is mainly active in the manufacture and marketing of industrial and medical gases and which, like Schulke and Mayr, is devoted to the protection of health.
