As the industry continues to evolve, STAR’s contract sales offering has remained agile enough to adapt proactively to market demands and clients’ needs. Most recently, Hamilton Bradshaw, the private equity firm of Dragons’ Den’s James Caan, invested in STAR. The entrepreneurial expertise of its personnel, three of whom are now members of STAR’s board, will enable STAR to retain its robust, secure infrastructure whilst assuring the scalability to continue its evolution.
STAR also partnered with marketing research agency Humanis, to conduct a ten week qualitative market research project, to gain a meaningful understanding of exactly what services and approaches its existing and potential clients value most for outsourced teams. Early in 2008 Lundbeck made the decision to pursue a differential resourcing strategy. We chose to partner with STAR on this initiative; as our most successful provider of direct to headcount recruitment services we had confidence in their ability to find the right people and they also demonstrated an unwavering commitment to deliver a bespoke and flexible solution.
The aim of the project is to deliver significant return on investment in key, high potential areas within the UK geography. Recognising that an evenly distributed UK footprint is inappropriate for our portfolio, we identified the areas that would benefit the most from additional, localised resourcing and pull-through. The critical success factor is rapid deployment of high calibre individuals.
Due to the strong recruitment heritage and the calibre of the resourcing team at STAR, they really have raised the bar for our contracted resourcing. This is shown by the fact that we would consider at least 50% of the team for headcount opportunities. STAR has really differentiated itself from other CSOs, with the speed, professionalism and efficiency with which they have managed the small number of candidates that we found were not appropriate for this project (despite the rigour of our recruitment process).
